Project Overview
Mermaid Solutions Pvt Ltd is proud to announce the successful completion of a major overhaul of a Caterpillar 3406B diesel generator onboard SLNS Samudura. This critical project was awarded by the Sri Lanka Navy to restore operational reliability and extend the service life of the vessel’s starboard generator.
Project Highlights
• Replacement of 179 genuine Caterpillar OEM spare parts
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) performed on all key engine and generator components
• Generator insulation restored to Class H marine standards (improved from 0 MΩ to 150 MΩ)
• Successful load testing up to 80% rated capacity under Navy supervision
• Official handover with a one-year warranty effective from 04 September 2025
This project has ensured that SLNS Samudura’s generator system is fully compliant with Caterpillar OEM standards, significantly reducing downtime risks and enhancing mission readiness.
